Peering into Space: The Image that Changed Everything
If a picture is worth 1000 words, how many words is it worth if it looks into 12 billion years of history?
In 1996 our understanding of our place within the universe was forever shifted when NASA released the Hubble Deep Field image. The Hubble Telescope is, perhaps, one of the most famous telescopes to peer into space. Since its launch in 1990, it has captured some of the most iconic images of our universe.
Of the many images it has produced, the Hubble Deep Field image was one of the most awe-inspiring and groundbreaking for the scientific community and the general public.

Why It Matters
Arguably, the Deep Field image didn’t just change astronomy, it changed the way that the common person saw their place within the universe.
Where once there was theory, there was now physical evidence of the universe’s vast expanse. It’s hard not to look at the Hubble Deep Field and not feel a sense of wonder at the boundless nature of the universe we call home. We are not a lonely galaxy in an expanse of darkness, we are a part of something so much greater!
There are discoveries to be made, mysteries to uncover, and connections to an expanse we don’t fully understand.
