Cassowaries can weigh 125-pounds and they have dangerous claws on their feet just like their dinosaur ancestors. These birds don’t just look like dinosaurs, they are as close to dinosaurs as we can get today!
They just show that we’re more connected to the past than we may think.
Why It Matters
Animals like the cassowary help us understand how ancient animals like dinosaurs may have lived. The fossils we find of extinct animals can’t tell us the entire story of how these animals may have looked, moved, and lived.
It’s amazing how connected to our past we are, right?
