Everyone needs a safe, comfortable place to find home and community. Whether you find it with family, at school, or as a part of an organization. Just like communities, not all homes look the same, and in difficult times, sometimes home isn’t a house. Maybe home can be the other Girl Scouts in your troop who make you smile when you’re feeling sad.
Bad things can happen to anybody– any one of us could experience homelessness at any point in our lives. This happens for a variety of reasons and doesn’t mean that people who experience homelessness are worth any less than people who have comfortable homes. The people you might see who don’t have a place to call home are not all that different from you. What is important though is that every person is able to feel a sense of safety, belonging, and community.
